According to the windmill’s mechanism, shouldn’t the bird be spinning backwards instead of forward

i think thats a harsh call, walt disne drove animators for over 30 years, to challenge concepts of animation, developing techniques, methods and theories that are still used in all good animation.

yes he wasnt a great drawer, but he had an imagination that pushed disney productions, making them the respected creative force they were, and in a way still are.

I used to shit myself out everytime I watched this starting at 4:00. The creeping music helped. Today I appreciate it as one of the best shorts ever.

I was like “NOOO! Not the mama bird and her babies!” Thanks for uploading this! I LOVE this cartoon! And its perfect for my history fair documentary! :D

  • StephVDun posted: 05 Mar at 6:55 am

Disney actually was a fairly decent cartoonist, and in the early days, he did much of the animation himself. As more animators were added, and the studio developed into an extremely complex organization, it made no sense for Walt Disney to draw anymore. Nevertheless, he was undeniably the prime creative force behind the studio, scrutinizing every frame of every scene, directing any changes that needed to be made. Without Disney, a cartoon of this quality would never have been made in 1937.
