Unless you know someone who can illegally configure your satellite in order to pick up the Disney channel from the States, there’s no way you can get it in Canada.
It has to do with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission : “The CRTC regulates all Canadian broadcasting and telecommunications activities and enforces rules it creates to carry out the policies assigned to it; the best-known of these is probably the Canadian content rules.”
“Canadian content (abbreviated cancon or can-con) refers to the requirements that radio and television broadcasters (including cable/satellite specialty channels) must air a certain percentage of content that was at least partly written, produced, presented, or otherwise contributed to by persons from Canada.”
So basically because probably 100% of the content of shows on the Disney channel is created by Americans, it is filtered as the Family Channel in Canada. It’s kinda of wonkey because there are other channels (like HBO) which have a high percent of American content but are still available here. I think a lot of it has to do with politics and cash.
But yeah, unless you know someone who can hook you up illegally, you’re out of luck. Sorry
